First Day of Editing

Today I started editing. For this project, I will be using I movie again. Choosing to do this was easy, I used the program to edit the commercial and still remember how to do most of the editing that I need to do. I started by importing all the footage onto my computer. After we got all the footage onto my computer, we started to plan out which shots we wanted and when. Since I had filmed some scenes in a different order, I reorganized them correctly to make the editing process easier. I found myself comparing many of the takes, so I ended up consulting my group mates for assistance. The first big challenge was moving all the footage into the program. This took about twenty minutes due to the large clips that we took. The raw footage was about two minutes and thirty seconds long. Next, I needed to trim down many beginnings and endings of my clips to only include the important parts, and to stay on track with my target time. I was able to cut down the footage to about one minute and fifteen seconds. I had lots of extra footage that I was able to delete. I did not want to delete all the extra footage purely due to the laughs that we shared while filming them. I needed to find a way to seamlessly cut between the photos in the album and the clips we had shot. I was unsure how to do this, so I did some research. I found an informative video on YouTube that helped me start to edit this scene. I found that the shots of me zooming in to the photos in the album were at a weird angle. The sun was coming through the window and causing the photos to be out of focus and have a glare across both pages. This concluded the first day of editing, tomorrow I will get the audio and finish the edit.
